Year 4 and I'm hooked. Year 1-torrential rain, relentless wind and pretty darn cold for May. Year 2, it warmed up a lot... 100 degrees in May, sure why not. Year 3, Got to ride in an Ambulance to the ER (I'm fine). Year 4- Puffy white clouds and 75 degrees??... Doesn't matter I'm in it for the cause.
Feed People, Fight Disease, Foster Hope
It actually gets me a little choked up when I write that motto. Food has been a central theme in my life for 30 years. We all eat, we all gather around a table at some point and share this experience. What happens when you can't prepare a meal for yoursef? This mission of Moveable Feast is simple, the help it provides is immesureable. Please help me feed someone who can't do that for themselves this year. Please donate to this cause dear to my heart.
Here is my post from my first year: Brewer's Art has been a proud sponsor of Moveable Feast through the Dining Out for Life event. We've raised thousands of dollars over the past decade or so. It was relatively easy for us. Lots of people came in to dinner and we donated 50% from the night to the cause. But I've been looking for more challenges in life lately and found this event. I figure if I wanted more to put more sweat equity into the whole giving thing why not ride 140 miles. I've never ridden more than 50 miles in one day and to tell you the truth I'm a little scared. Everyone keeps saying it will be fine, it's flat. Well, I grew up on the shore and there's almost always a nice breeze in your face. No hills, just wind. I've signed up with a great team of people-Rebels with a Cause-and are counting on them to get me to the finish line Please take time and consider donating to the effort. Here's a little more about the ride and Moveable Feast...)
Ride for the Feast is a 2-day,140-mile Maryland bike ride from Ocean City to Baltimore City, May May 2-3, 2020.
The event raises money for Moveable Feast, the only Maryland nonprofit that delivers healthy meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Our services are provided in Baltimore City, the 5 surrounding counties and on the Eastern Shore, all at no cost to our clients. Last year, Moveable Feast delivered 743,940 life-saving meals to 6,060 Marylanders. This ride is also symbolic - the fundraising minimum of $1,500 is the equivalent of the food costs to feed one client for a year. 140 miles represents the furthest distance Moveable Feast travels to deliver to a client.
With your help, we are working to deliver 1 million meals in a single year – each one made and delivered with love. 100% of your donation goes directly back into the services provided to our clients. Your support will aid thousands of our neighbors here in Maryland.
“Moveable Feast is more than just the nutrition that they give you food-wise; they give you spirit. It changes your life.” Marvin, a Moveable Feast client.
