Well, I'm doing it again. Riding 140 miles over two days to raise money for an incredible organization. Moveable Feast delivers nutrtitious meals to medically fragile people. Those who can't leave their homes, cook for themselves or have the money to buy healty food while fighting life-threatening illnesses. My goal of raising $1500 will feed one person for the entire year. This is the only time during the year I will ask for donations. Privately. Not on Facebook or through telemarketing calls. Email only. I might bombard your inboxes but it will be only that! Please contribute.
Not only does Moveable Feast bring food to medically fragile individuals, they offer all kinds of volunteer and training opportunities for Baltimore youth. I was recently working with a 17 year old young lady who wanted to become a chef. Moveable Feast offers a 10 week, free of charge, culinary training program. After a little time volunteering she qualifies. They have green spaces througout Baltimore City where they grow their fruits and vegetables. It's really an amazing orgainization.
Below are a few more details about the ride and the non-profit organization. Please read and donate.
Ride for the Feast is a 2-day, 140-mile Maryland bike ride from Ocean City to Baltimore City, May 2-3, 2020.
The event raises money for Moveable Feast, the only Maryland nonprofit that delivers healthy meals to people living with HIV, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our services are provided in Baltimore City, the 5 surrounding counties and on the Eastern Shore, all at no cost to our clients. Last year, Moveable Feast delivered 743,940 life-saving meals to 6,060 Marylanders. This ride is also symbolic - the fundraising minimum of $1,500 is the equivalent of the food costs to feed one client for a year. 140 miles represents the furthest distance Moveable Feast travels to deliver to a client.
With your help, we are working to deliver 1 million meals in a single year – each one made and delivered with love. 100% of your donation goes directly back into the services provided to our clients. Your support will aid thousands of our neighbors here in Maryland.
"I have a better eating habit and portioned meals now. I am very afraid of dying and you are really giving me hope. I have to eat a certain way and you all have been so helpful with that. I worry about my heart disease all the time and now having food is one less thing on top."- Moveable Feast client
